A Note from the Founder

My name is Zoya Simakhodskaya and I created CPID to provide the highest quality psychological services based on my belief in the strengths we all gain from secure connections with others. Whether you are suffering from relationship stress, depression, anxiety or other emotional discomfort, our unique attachment theory based approach to psychotherapy can help you. I have joined forces with a number of trusted colleagues to create a center where we are able to provide complimentary services to all our clients in the convenience of a coordinated center. CPID is also a center for training and education for clinicians seeking to achieve excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I hope you will continue to browse our website and learn about the training and services we provide to the New York City area.

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Demonstrated to have over 70% success in restoring harmony and feelings of security to couples in distress, Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, has over twenty years of research documenting its effectiveness. CPID is a training and supervision center where the best and brightest couples therapists in NYC are learning to help couples get the most out of life. EFT is effective for:

  • Lack of sex or intimacy
  • Recovering from an affair
  • Negative, blaming or criticizing behaviors
  • Emotional shut down, withdrawal, distance
  • Deciding whether to get married
  • Navigating a trial separation
  • LGBT issues
  • Marriage counseling survivors

Relational Psychotherapy

Our approach to individual psychotherapy is "bottom up." Our experiential modality focuses on the here-and-now moments in therapy sessions in which your true relationship and emotional patterns emerge. By using the therapist-client relationship as a forum in which to explore your experience of the world, our clinicians are able to trace your emotional responses back to past trauma to help you identify the emotional logic of your current relationship strategies and develop a new, self-affirming relationship with yourself that is vital and growth-oriented. Relational Psychotherapy is effective for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Sexual Concerns
  • Body image problems
  • Addiction
  • Somatization (storing stress in the body)
  • Fragile Relationships
  • Sexual Identity Issues

We also offer Parent/Child Family Therapy, Psychiatric Evaluation and Psychopharmocology, and Neuropsychological Testing. Visit our Services page.
